JFHC Live 2012: Maxine Jenkins – Improving health for the homeless



This session will cover the work of the Opening Doors project, which is being delivered by the Queens Nursing Institute. The project is is aimed at nurses and other health professionals working with homeless people as well as families and children with, or affected by, substance misuse issues. Maxine Jenkins, Specialist Health Visitor, looks at the health issues for homeless people and families and how this can impact their lives. She also covers the work of the project so far and looks at the resources it has produced. The talk finishes with an overview of the many varied aspects of the role of a health visitor working with homeless families, contrasting this with a typical day for a homeless family.
