Masala khichdi is a quick and healthy one-pot meal recipe that can be on your dinning table in just a few minutes. Don’t forget to try this fulfilling and delicious recipe by our chef Seema and remember to post in your comments below.
3-4 tbsp ghee
1/2 tsp asafoetida (hing)
3-4 bay leaves
2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp chopped ginger
1 tsp black peppercorns
2 chopped green chillies
1 chopped onion
2 chopped tomatoes
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 cup chopped french beans
1 cup chopped carrot
1 chopped potato
1 cup green peas
1/2 moong dal
2 cups rice
2 1/2-3 cups water
1 cup chopped capsicum
3 red chillies
1 tbsp butter
In a pressure cooker add 3-4 tbsp ghee, 1/2 tsp hing (Asafoetida), 3-4 bay leaves, 2 tsp cumin seeds, 1 tbsp chopped ginger, 1 tsp black peppercorns, 2 chopped green chillies, 1 chopped onion, mix well and let it cook for 5 mins.
Add 2 chopped tomatoes, salt to taste, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 cup chopped french beans, 1 cup chopped carrot, 1 chopped potato, 1 cup green peas and mix well.
Add 1/2 cup moong dal, 2 cups rice, freshly chopped coriander, 2 1/2 cups of water, mix well, put the lid and cook it for 4 whistles.
Add 1 cup hot water, 1 cup chopped capsicum and give it a mix.
Garnish it with 3 red chillies, freshly chopped coriander and 1 tbsp butter.
Spicy and tasty Masala Khichdi is ready to be served!
